WAAS: Our Process
What is WaaS? Well, WaaS stands for ‘Website as a Service’. It is a unique offering, whereby, we don’t just make you a website and then leave you to fend for yourself, we continue to work with you after the development and implementation stages to support your website and business.
Another question we get asked a lot is; “how is this going to work?” or “what is the process for creating a new website?” and these are great questions everyone should be asking a web design agency. A web design agency is a service provider. Although the quality of the end product will be a really important factor in making a decision (as it will have an impact on the results generated), the process itself of creating a website is an important factor to consider. The service you receive when building a website should be to a standard that is professional and efficient.
It is impossible to replicate the same service for every customer as each customer has their own unique requirements and needs, however, we have a process that we follow when working on website projects.
What we’re going to cover:
- Step One: Create a brief
- Step Two: Homepage Design
- Step Three: Internal Pages
- Step Four: Development
- Step Five: Responsiveness, Testing & Review
- Step Six: Launch
- Ongoing maintenance
Step One: Create a brief
Before we start the design phase, it is important that we sit down, discuss the project and create a brief based on:
- The confirmed objectives of the new website
- The site map of the pages that are to be included
- Design preferences and inspiration
- A rough idea of layout and navigation
- The key messages that demonstrate your USPs
By creating a detailed brief with layout and user journey in mind, we will be able to create a website that will be functional and fully optimised for marketing purposes whilst also being targeted, focussed and aesthetically pleasing, to generate business whilst enhancing your brand.
Step Two: Homepage Design
Once we have agreed on the brief, we will be able to create 5 design options for the homepage and present these back to you for review. Working collaboratively, we can either pick one preferred design or combine aspects from each design in order to finalise a homepage that fits your criteria.
Step Three: Internal Pages
Once the homepage has been decided upon, this will start to be developed into a functioning website from static images. Our focus will turn to the internal pages; creating them with the same design flow of the homepage and tailoring the content of each section to help achieve our objective.
Once all the pages have been designed and the content has been approved, they will then be developed.
Step Four: Development
Without boring you on the in’s and out’s of website code, this is where the building of your website takes place. Once the design’s have been agreed and signed off our developers get to work on building your bespoke design into an interactive website, bringing the designs to life with animation.
Step 5: Responsiveness, Testing and Review
Once the website has been developed we need to test the website to make sure everything is working as it should be, we will then carry out the responsiveness checks of the website to make sure it correctly formats to all devices that the website is viewed on. We will then check the website again and once we are happy with the website we will send it to the client for review.
Step Six: Launch
Once you are happy with the website we will prepare the website for migration over to the live domain, making sure that all analytics accounts are set up and security updates have been made ready for the website to go live on your live domain.
We see websites as a dynamic tool for your business and something that should be continually altered and developed in order to get the best results for your marketing and your business. This is why we offer our websites as a service, as opposed to asking for a large, upfront cost and then charging our customers for hosting and further changes additionally.
We look to create a partnership with you. Once we have created your website, you will be assigned an account manager who will be a point of contact for you to stay in touch with, in order to make sure that your website is kept fully up-to-date and in line with your business’ latest objectives.
We don’t believe in unexpected fees. We believe in a fixed monthly cost for a working website. We believe in a partnership that works for everyone.
