Our Organic Approach to Social Media
When it comes to social media, the two main approaches are organic and paid. Organic social media involves maintaining a social media presence without engaging in paid promotions to push your content to a new audience. Alternatively, paid social media presents itself online in an advertisement format, with the business or individual investing their money into campaigns.
Paid social media can be an effective tool if it suits your business and is used appropriately. It can surge business growth and engagement, target a specific audience and drive traffic to your website. However, to maintain that engagement you may have to invest more time and money in order to create brand loyalty. It all really depends on the type of business you run, the audience you want to target and the budget you have for campaigns.
Organic social media posting is great because you can build your own audience and nurture it to encourage your followers to invest in your business. It is also completely free to post as much as you like on social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and more. Of course, there are some downsides too, it takes time and patience to build a following and encourage engagement. However, if you consistently post interesting, good quality and brand-relevant content you’ll develop a clear brand image that creates authentic relationships and business credibility. Ultimately, you want people to trust YOUR business.
Our approach to organic posts on social media is based on the objectives of the campaign, building a strong understanding of the target audience and creating posts that engage with the audience, providing information on the service your business provides and the work you do. We understand that organic social media does not always generate instant results, however, having a consistent and professional presence (providing your audience with information on your business) will help enhance your brand and strengthen your customers’ decision to use your business.
Step One: Understanding Objectives and Audience
The most important step for all campaigns is getting a clear understanding of the audience and the objectives. It is important to know the objectives of the campaign so that we can strategise and create ideas based on the outcome of what you are looking to achieve, this will affect the types of posts we will look to create. It is equally as important to know your target audience, so that you understand how you can engage with them, the tone of voice, the content they would interact with and what will encourage them to enquire or buy.
Step Two: Competitor Analysis
In order to gain real insight into your business and industry, we conduct competitive analysis to assess what the competition is like in your field. This is a really good exercise, not only to gain ideas, but also to know where your competitors are falling short, highlighting where we can improve upon the social media content that is already out there. We will look into what works and what doesn’t within your industry, really assessing what your specific audience like to see.
Step Three: Social Media Strategy and Direction
Once we have a real understanding of competitors, targets and audience, we conduct meetings with both yourselves and internally to plan and strategise the direction that we want the campaigns to take. This is our chance to really brainstorm and then condense concepts and ideas into an effective and personalised strategy to suit the brand. Whether it’s a complete social media refresh (with a change in direction) or just a strengthening and continuation of current efforts, our team will be on hand to help you navigate the best course of action.
Step Four: Idea Framework
Our next step is to then get organised and devise a framework for the campaign(s). Getting ideas ‘onto paper’ is a real collaborative effort each month or quarter, having regular meetings to discuss the pipeline of ideas for the next batch of social posts that we would like to include into the schedule. Having everything set out clearly in chronological order allows us to plan in posts for key business events/dates, as well as world/country-specific celebrations or events. The framework also means that we can efficiently slot in topical posts or new business-related posts that crop up out of the blue – keeping your social media relevant and engaging for employees and your audience.
Step Five: Content Creation
To bring the ideas to life we work on the graphic artwork, building a set of graphic templates so that we can create consistency throughout the campaign and make sure that when a user sees a post they instantly recognise your brand. It is important the graphics are sleek and professional to represent your business in the correct way. Once we have created the graphic templates we will adapt them for the content used on each post and add in the relevant image assets. We will manage all graphic creation required for posts.
Step Six: Scheduling
Once we have the ideas in our framework and the content created, we get to work on the marketing captions, utilising our software tools we schedule all the posts with the content and captions into our platform. You will have access to this platform and the ability to see the posts in calendar view, to see the schedule of posts for the month ahead. We will also use this software to allow you to approve all posts so that no posts will be scheduled without approval, they will link directly with your platform feeds to post the content at the scheduled time once approved.
Step Seven: Performance Analytics
The final stage would be to look back on a campaign and analyse how the content performed. Now, depending on the target of the campaign the analysis techniques will vary. Overall, we aim to look at the engagement and reach of the campaign, comparing it to the performance of previous posts and prior campaigns. We produce comprehensive campaign reports to track progress and set out our next steps.
